The Journal of Huy
Dear Journal, March 17,
1975.
Cambodia is suffering. We should help them, but we are currently going
through the same issues also. Out battles are even spreading to their land. At
this rate we’ll both just end up destroying each other. Even with the help of
the U.S. it really isn’t much. Many say that we should show forth some effort
towards helping, though they help both sides in this war. The tension just keeps
getting thicker and thicker. It’s unbelievable how Pol Pot even got into power.
Seems as if he just used sheer force to take down the, what was already
crumbling, government of Cambodia. Though all of this can be blamed on the French. After the decolonization of Cambodia they pretty much just left them without anything. Eventually Pol Pot will start killing
everyone, we can’t let that happen. Though is it really evident what going to
eventually happen. We are going to lose this war eventually without the help of
outsiders, the North will eventually win. Don’t know what will happen, though
whatever it is it’s going to be soon.
Dear Diary, August 27, 1977,
Cambodia has been getting worse, people there are just getting killed
left and right. Many of those killed are also part of our country. I think that
is by time that we act. Maybe taking control over Cambodia would help us in this
war. The benefits would be tremendous, though the only thing is North Vietnam.
If we send forces there how would they react? We would be left defenseless. Pol
Pot has put himself in a position of higher power, though has also made him a
bigger target. The actual potion that he put himself in is a big setup to start
a rebellion. I don’t think that he honestly believes that he can go through this
just as easy as he did without any interference with outside or inside opposing
forces. The whole “Year Zero” thing probably isn’t going to work. The
amount of hate most people have for him is just way too grand for people to sit
by and ignore him. A friend of mine lost a brother because of this. I didn’t
have much too say, but I did say that this would be coming to an end soon.
Hopefully.

Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge Regime has been stopped. It took some time for the
relentless killing to stop though. I don’t know how long this communist
government will last though. Last time that happened….well yeah. At least now
there is some sort of order there. Though I can also say that there was no help
from the United States. They just sat back and watched as our countries went off
and killed each other. Then try to say they did something from the bombing that
was done to the Khmer Rouge, even though it actually killed more citizens and
made more recruits for KR. Though this isn’t the time to make more enemies. It’s
time to start rebuilding. Once all that’s done we can think about what to do
next. Though one thing is sure. Nothing like Pol Pot or his regime will ever
happen here again.
